The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid is new for the model year. It joins the non-hybrid Grand Highlander models and the standard Highlander in Toyota's lineup.

Design

Designed to deliver an exceptional drive and unparalleled comfort, the Grand Highlander Hybrid is nothing short of great. Thanks to its spacious cabin, there's accommodation for up to eight passengers and plenty of legroom with 5.5 inches of added space in the third row.

Interior styling gets a slight boost, too. There's a more symmetrical dashboard, heated front seats, second-row window shades, and a host of USB and power outlets. While bench seating in the second row is common, it can be replaced with a set of captain's chairs, which drops capacity to seven.

Performance

To power the Grand Highlander Hybrid, Toyota has given shoppers the choice of two engine options. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors produces 245 horsepower. Then there's the Hybrid Max powertrain, which combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter with an electric motor for 362 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Each engine uses a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) to drive the front wheels. Still, buyers can add another electric motor on the rear axle for all-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy

As a hybrid, the Grand Highlander Hybrid is a fuel-efficient model. With the 2.5-liter hybrid and front-wheel drive, models get about 37 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Models with the more powerful all-wheel drive-only Hybrid Max powertrain offer slightly less at around 26 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

Technology

Toyota has given the Grand Highlander Hybrid a host of technology for your entertainment. A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a seven-inch digital gauge cluster run on Toyota's latest software interface. Upgrade to a higher time like the Limited or Platinum, and models receive a larger 12.3-inch gauge display and larger 11-speaker JBL stereo, an upgrade from the model's standard six-speaker unit.

Safety

Not only will the Grand Highlander Hybrid keep you entertained, but it will also keep you safe thanks to a suite of advanced driver-aids called TSS 3.0. This bundle offers safety features, including standard blind-spot monitoring and automated emergency braking, along with adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlamps, and a road-sign recognition system.
